What happened
Roundup’s active ingredient, glyphosate, has been at the center of one of the largest product-liability litigations in American history, with juries repeatedly finding that long-term exposure contributed to non-Hodgkin lymphoma in heavy users — especially agricultural workers, landscapers, groundskeepers, and rural homeowners who sprayed for years without warning of any cancer risk.
Litigation status: This litigation is moving fast. In March 2026 a court preliminarily approved a multi-billion-dollar settlement structure addressing current and future NHL claims, and in June 2026 the U.S. Supreme Court issued a preemption ruling in Monsanto’s favor that affects how failure-to-warn claims can proceed. Deadlines to make elections under the settlement have already begun to run — anyone with a diagnosis should get their options reviewed immediately.
