What happened
Exactech recalled large numbers of its Optetrak, Truliant, and Vantage knee and ankle systems and Connexion GXL hip liners after determining that defective vacuum-sealed packaging exposed polyethylene components to oxygen. Oxidized plastic wears out and delaminates far too early, causing bone loss (osteolysis), component loosening, pain, swelling, and instability — and forcing revision surgeries that would never have been needed.
Who may qualify
- Received an Exactech knee, hip, or ankle implant (many patients received recall letters; your surgeon or hospital can confirm), and
- Experienced premature wear, loosening, bone loss, or revision surgery — or have been advised revision may be needed
Next step
Bring us your recall letter if you received one — but don’t wait for one. We can confirm whether your implant is covered and preserve your claim before Alabama’s limitations period runs.
